There will be 5 classic New York style workshops to investigate what an “Action” is and how to use it.
4 half hour slots are available at each session for active participants of all levels and there are unlimited observer places.
All participants and observers are expected to attend for the whole 21/2 hour workshop and to be prepared to support each other.
Participants can opt to test an action in any way including through the classic “object exercise” or explore text either as a solo piece or as partners to work on a duologue.
There are a limited number of observer places for professional actors.
The aim is that prticipants will gain an understanding of:
How to identify an Action.
Why to use an Action
An Action within the framework of a whole play
An Action within a scene
An Action within a beat.
How Actions can be usefully applied to a text.
How Actions can be applied to silence on stage.
