2 ACTORS WANTED
–PAID OPPORTUNITY FOR A CHARITY EVENT
New Shoes Theatre is casting for The Richard and Sarah Story from Hurried Steps by Dacia Maraini – a powerful ten-minute scene from a play that raises awareness of violence against women and girls.
This special performance is part of a TEDx Talk by Nicolette Kay, in Tunbridge Wells, which will be filmed for YouTube.
Richard – Male, white, playing age 34-40. Richard is a good man who loves his wife, Sarah… too much.
Sarah – Female, white playing age 27- early 30’s Sarah is a vulnerable young woman who loves Richard and considers him to be her ‘protector’.
The play was written to read from music stands, the actors will be expected to rehearse and be familiar with the scene but will not have to be off the book. There is information about the International project at www.hurriedsteps.org.
Please note that the scene contains graphic descriptions of domestic abuse including violence. Both live and online audiences will be given trigger warnings.
Details:
Audition in Person: Tuesday, March 4th 2025 between 11 am and 2 pm City of London
Performance Date: Sunday, March 16th, 2025 (full-day availability required)
Rehearsals: One in-person rehearsal in Tunbridge Wells on 15th March (full-day availability required) + one Zoom rehearsal during the week commencing 10th March.
Filming: The performance will be recorded and shown internationally on YouTube. You will be required to sign a TEDx Speaker Agreement and Release Form.
Fee: £200 + train fares from London to Tunbridge Wells (if required).
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a meaningful project and to perform at a TEDx event.
